Sick day gone good

As the day starts out, in every Moms world, we attempt to wake up before our kids in hopes to grab that fresh steaming cup of Java and perhaps read the paper, watch the news, read a book etc etc. As for me, I am usually woken by either 1) some little munchkin sneaking into my bed 2) a horrific smell coming out of my two year old's room, or 3) a screaming hungry baby who wants his milk just as much as Mama wants her coffee. In my case, it is usually not an a, b or c but a 1, 2, and a 3 in different orders on different days.

I have come to the conclusion that this Mama must begin her day before 1,2, and 3 occur. That being said, 4:30am to 5:00am my day must begin. With 3 kids and a husband that has been gone, which seems like 50 percent of the time, I am quite the busy homemaker/mom of three. I hit the floor no later that 7am on a good day and am cooking, cleaning, changing diapers, picking up toys, breaking up fights, running errands, paying bills, giving baths and then finally trying to play catch up on the house which never seems to be completely in order.

Today was a sick day for my four year old Mikey. He was the first to come in my room with a body that felt like the Alabama heat in mid July. I immediately checked his temperature, got him some ice water, a cold rag, and some Tylenol to begin the pampering process that I learned so well from my wonderful parents. Of course, while I am taking care of one, my other begins to cry Mama and of course wakes my other who then screams from the top of his lungs as loud as he possibly can. I hit the floor running to tag team the other two kids who are perfectly healthy and are having what I call a normal day.

I somehow find time to whip up some waffles and bacon, feed the four healthy ones breakfast and pop in the first movie of the day for Mr. Sickypants. Since Mikey had already had plans to go duck hunting and I had plans to meet up with some friends later as my first getaway, we stuck with our plans despite out poor sick puppy being ill. There were five, now there are four. Mikey is gone duck hunting, best of luck to him, while I am watching Duck Dynasty, nursing Myles and hanging out with my Mason. Mikey is on movie number 2 now and just getting rest up stairs. The day is going much better than expected.

The kids all go down for a nap at 1pm and I take that time to spend with Little Mikey. His request to help his sickness was "Mama, let's make cookies." So we did. we made the biggest best chocolate chip cookies. Right on schedule, Mikey comes home, gets washed up and relieves me for my Mamas hour out with her friends. I throw on some clothes, makeup and shoes and try to leave Mama at the house and bring Holly out. I arrive at the restaurant and feel relaxed and excited and anxious to see and chat with my friends. The restaurant offers me a cheap boxed glass of Malbec and a fresh relaxed atmosphere without poopy diapers and screaming kids. I am content and feel relieved to have drifted such a short distance from home and to be with such wonderful company. Although it was a short outing, once I arrived back at the house, the sound of Mama and little foot steps coming down the stairs brought the biggest smile to my face and happiness fulfilled me. I piggybacked Mikey and Mason around the house and laughed and played with them before bedtime came.

It is funny how you long to get away and just have a break sometimes. But when you do, and you come back to reality, you feel like the happiest Mom all over again. I guess breaks are good sometimes and are much needed after working 24/7.

HALLOWEEN TRICKS AND TREATS

What a day, what a day. Note to self.....if you tell your 3 year old something the night before, he will remember first thing the next morning and remind you all day long. It is a nightly ritual that I tell Mikey a secret before he goes to bed. The secret was, the next day he was going to wake up, dress up in his costume, and make our way to the playground to hit a bat pinata. He was so excited and panted like a puppy. His amazing memory then recalls our trip to Alabama when his Uncle Clint and Liz took him to a birthday party that had a dinasaur pinata. Red to be specific. How he remembers these things from 3 months ago, I will never know. Well, the bat pinata didn't make it, but the candy did. We then walked the streets of Cordova in search for as much candy as we can grab a hold of. He was dressed as Mator and his friend Haakin aka Punkin was dressed as Lightning Mcqueen. The two of them were so cute walking around side by side saying Trick or Treat as they made the moms hold on to the candy bags. We then went to the fire station where they were giving families short rides around the block in the fire truck. Mikey of course thought this was the coolest thing ever. i had Mason in my backpack carrier the entire time and he had fun people watching while sucking his left thumb. After the firetruck ride, we made our way to the Moose Lodge for fun games and lots more energy candy. The night was perfect, minus the pouring rain. Overall, the kids had fun and I loved watching them have fun.

3 months old

Everyone told me to enjoy the time while they are little because they grow up so fast. I didn't think about it much then, but wow does time fly. Little Mikey is now 3 months old and the time flew by. My 13 weeks off work now seems like a long weekend. But I enjoyed every minture of it and took the 13 weeks I had and made it productive. Little Mikey and I went to a new mommies support group every Tuesday. We met with new moms and new babies of all ages. It was nice watching him look at all the other babies. I learned a lot and it was a nice time to get out of the house, meet new people, and learn the do's and do not's in motherhood. Little Mikey and I mastered the relaxation in infant massage class. After four weeks of class, I can put on the ocean music and Lil man will be out in 15 minutes flat. In the beginning of the massage he thinks it is play time and just wiggles and smiles a lot. But after a while it starts to feel relaxed and just slowly falls asleep. Our last day of class the instructor gave us a certificate and a cute picture of us. Little Mikey and I went for walks daily, I took him to different parks, I ran 2 5k's with him, We took our first long trip to Alabama (which he did terrific), had his first holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year), He has met all of his immediate family, had many hugs and kisses from them all, I took him to get his first set of pictures made at 3 months old, we have introduced him to WII Rockband, and many more exciting things. At 3 months old, he can hold his head up strong, look around, smile, beginning to laugh, he watching cartoons, he can hold an object in his hand for a short time, he knows who his mommy and daddy are, he loves taking a bath, he loves to be outside and absolutly loves going for walks, he can roll over from his belly to his back, he has slept through the night no more than 3 times (we are working on that), and he has stolen our hearts. Although the 3 months have gone by so fast, so much has happened. We have cherished every minute of this experience and will cherish each day as we continue to live, laugh and love. Here are a few photos that are my favorites of the first 3 months of Little Mikey. Enjoy!

The Family Photo Shoot on the Beach

Mikey and Sydney's Beach Photo Shoot

Me, My mom and Ashley went to the St. Pete beach to take pictures of her 7 month old Sydney and 2 month old Mikey. Needless to say, it was hot and the kids were ready to GO HOME! What was suppose to be a nice quiet day at the beach ended up being a 10-15 minute photo shoot. Got them dresses, snapped some fash shots, took off the hot santa suits and drove home. Bot kids passed out by the time we got home. they looked so cute.

Pictures with Santa

Mikey and I took Lil Mikey to go see Santa at the mall one day. We put a simple but cute outfit on him and sat him on Santa's lap. He was so good. The people taking the photos were shocked when we told them he was not even two months old yet. They said he looked 4 months old. They ended up giving us some extra pictures to take home with us just because Lil Mikey was so darn cute!

Mikey's 1st Holiday-Happy Hollyween

Mikey had to work Halloween, but I dressed Lil Mikey in his "My 1st Halloween" outfit that his Grandmamma D gave to him. He was my lil pumpkin! We went over to our neighbors Christine and Dave, and hung out over there while Dave carved a few pumpkins.
